Mission Friends

It is never too young to learn about missions. Mission Friends, the WMU organization for children from birth to pre-first grade, helps young children begin to learn about God and His love, and about becoming one of God's "helpers" here on earth. Mission Friends builds a foundation for children to understand God's plan for their lives.

A Royal Ambassador is a boy in grades 1-6 committed to living out the RA Pledge. This pledge is part of personal and chapter (group of RAS) accountability. Royal Ambassador (RAS) is a Bible-centered, church-based, Southern Baptist mission education organization for boys in grades 1-6.

GA’s: (Girl’s in Action)

All across North America, girls in grades 1 through 6 are making an impact in their communities with the good news of Christ Jesus. Through Girls in Action (GA), girls take action by: 1.praying for missions, 2. engaging in mission activities, 3. witnessing, learning and supporting missions, 4. developing spiritually toward a mission’s lifestyle.

Children and music collide for a beautiful expression of what God created us to do—to glorify Him! Children of various ages have a place for them to learn to sing and worship God here at Houston River. This ministry practices on Sunday afternoons in the fall and spring for seasonal performances. Come join one of these groups.

Kingdom Kid’s

Kingdom Kid’s is our Sunday morning ministry for four and five year olds during the morning worship service! Children join their parents in the sanctuary for half of the worship experience. Prior to the sermon the children will meet in the North lobby to head to the Refuge for a time of singing, crafts and Bible story appropriate for their age level. Parents will need to sign in their children prior to worship each Sunday in the North lobby and pick up their children in the Refuge after worship.

Women on Mission

This group of women meet every third Thursday of each month at 9:00am. They meet in the Adult 3 area now known as the “Diner.” The Woman's Missionary Union is an auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention that seeks to equip adults, youth, children and preschoolers with mission’s education to become radically involved in the mission of God. WMU is a nonprofit organization that offers an array of missions resources including conferences, ministry ideas and models, volunteer opportunities, curriculum for age-level organizations, leadership training.

If you have a lead foot, then this might be your ministry! As our church grows we have those who love to serve others by getting them from their vehicles to the right places. This ministry team serves others by helping those who need assistance in walking and those who got here a little later and didn’t get the best of parking spots. We don’t want the tough walk across the parking lot to keep you from walking close to the Lord.

Regardless of age, sex or race you need to be in a weekly Bible study group! On Sunday mornings at 9 am there is a place for YOU somewhere on our campus to get plugged into a small group that teaches God’s word and loves you as you are! Everyone needs to be in small group where you can be free to be yourself. Allow God to change you weekly as you meet Him face to face through the study of His Word written personally to you.

Come join our church family as it retells the story of Jesus from birth to heaven through the power of music and drama. This semi-annual event encompasses our entire church family along with live animals and elaborate sets to retell the story in a way you haven’t seen before. This life changing week for children entails music, crafts, bible stories, mission speakers, special guests, snacks, games and so much more. This free annual event is done for the children in our community to have a safe place on Halloween night. We do this to show God’s love and share the life changing story that Jesus Christ with all that come. There will be games for all ages in our family life center, free hotdogs and cotton candy, live music, balloon animals and so much more!
